Guwahati – Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Bomdila – Tawang – Kaziranga – Kohima – Imphal

 

Northeast India consists of the eight states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Tourism in this area is based around the unique Himalayan landscape and culture distinct from the rest of India.

Itinerary

After on arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, assistance and warm traditional welcome by our representative and visit the famous Maa Kamakhya Temple on the Nilachal Hills (10kms) – a seat of the tantric cult in India and one of the 108 Shakti Pethas in the Country and transfer to Shillong. Shillong, also known as ‘The Scotland of the East’ is the capital city of Meghalaya. En route you will visit the largest manmade lake of Northeast India – Umium Lake. Reaching Shillong after 3 hours journey (approximately), we check-in at a city Hotel. After freshen up visit Cathedral of Marry & the Polo Ground. Evening free for leisure or for shopping in the famous Police Bazaar in Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.

Wake up early and have your breakfast and drive to Mawlynnong. Today you can explore the cleanest village Mawlynnong in the world. You can take the sky walk. Spectacular view of the living Root Bridge. After lunch drive to Dawki. Dawki is the gateway to Bangladesh where major export and import transactions take place. it is a splendid drive of 45 kilometres passing through deep gorges and ravines, which is certainly a thrilling experience. On approaching Dawki is the Umngot river, he Umngot river is the natural boundary between Ri Pnar or Jaintia Hills with Hima Khyrim of Khasi hills over which is a single span suspension bridge was constructed. Later back to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.

Morning after breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee which is famed for being the wettest place in the world. After a drive of 1 ½ hours amid pine trees and mists we reach Cherrapunjee. Cherrapunjee possesses some exotic waterfalls and impressive limestone caves. In Cherrapunji, we visit the Nohkalikai Falls, Seven sisier falls,Mawsmai Caves,Rama Krishna Mission, Eco Park and the Thangkharang Park .Later back to Guwahati. Overnight in Guwahati.

After breakfast sightseeing in an around Tezpur. Later drive to Bomdila.En-route visit Tipi Orchidarium, a glass house with over 7500 Orchids. Overnight stay in Hotel in Bomdila.

At morning visit the Kiwi & Apple Gardens. After viewing the beautiful valley of Dirang overlooking the river and inhabited by colorful tribes, proceed towards the Sela Pass (13703 ft) spend some lovely times by the paradise lake. Reaching Tawang (143 km, 7hrs) check in at Hotel Overnight at Tawang.

After breakfast explore Tawang Monastery, founded by Mera Lama Lodre Gyaltso during 17th Century A.D. a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama. Evening free for leisure or shopping in the local market. Overnight at Hotel.

Today enjoy local sightseeing in Tawang. Visit Maduri lake,China Border, & The Tawang Gompa is definitely the high point of the town, with a commanding view of the splendid valleys beyond. Also visit the War memorial. Evening free for shopping and leisure. Overnight in Tawang.

After breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Park: In the heart of Assam, covering an area of 430 sq-kms, is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment. Evening visit tea garden near by the park.Overnight stay in resort in Kaziranga.

After an early wake up, you will be taken to the riding point in the Eastern Range for an Elephant Ride. After the ride return back to the Hotel. After breakfast visit Orchid Park , Tea Garden and Ethnic Village near by the National Park. Evening drive to the Central Range (Kohora) of the park for a jeep safari. Evening enjoy local cultural Bihu dance programme (Direct payment basis) Overnight in Kaziranga.

After an early wake up, you will be taken to the riding point in the Central Range (Kohora) for an Elephant Ride. After the ride return back to the Resort. After breakfast depart for Kohima. En route visit the hot spring in Garampani. Kohima is derived from the word "Kew Hi Ma" which means the men of the land where the flower Kew Hi grows. Situated at an altitude of 1444 m above sea level, Kohima is the Capital of Nagaland. Like other Naga settlement Kohima shares the same feature standing on top of the surrounding mountains. In true sense, fusion of different culture with a blend of modernisms turns Kohima to a fast growing city. Overnight in Kohima.

After breakfast full day visit to Kohima including world war cemetery, Kohima village. Overnight in Kohima.War cemetery: The well maintained memorial commemorates brave soldiers and warriors who laid their lives fighting the Japanese during the World War II. Nagaland state Museum: it is housed in ancestral weaponry & provides an insight into the Naga culture, traditions & history & Kohima village: The village is said to be the biggest & most populous in entire Asia. According to Naga legend, the present day Kohima was founded here. Overnight in Kohima.

After breakfast drive to Imphal (150 Kms / 5 ½ hrs drive) through the breathtaking mountain scenery. Later transferred to Hotel Classic or similar. Rest of the day free for own activities. Overnight at Hotel.

After breakfast visit to Loktak Lake - the largest freshwater lake in North -East India is famous for the phumdis floating over it. Keibul Lamjao the only floating national park in the world is on this lake. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

After breakfast Check out from the hotel and transfer to Guwahati Airport drop for the onward journey.
